God Creates and Cleans Out a New Heart: Part 4

Hebrews 10:19-25 – “with a true heart in full assurance of faith, our hearts sprinkled clean”

Before Jesus Christ died on the cross for your sins, you would have had to bring an offering to be sacrificed on the altar. You would have to do this on a continual basis because the sacrifice would only be good for what you already did. As you sinned the next day, the next week, the next year…you would have to make another sacrifice. You would have to make those sacrifices for the forgiveness of sins before you could enter the “presence” of God. Jesus Christ was without sin and became the perfect sacrifice, able to be the once-for-all sacrifice. Because of Jesus Christ and because you have believed in what He did and because you have accepted that gift, you can freely enter into the “presence” of God. Jesus was the ultimate sacrifice and He took the position of High Priest who ushers us into God’s throne room. We have direct access to God. We don’t need a pastor, priest, or religious leader to talk with God. Those people are important in our spiritual journey because God has given those people for a specific purpose to equip us to serve and to minister to the world. We should not ignore worshipping in a local church, gathering with other believers for prayer and bible study, nor ignore the combining of our resources to reach the unreached. The writer of Hebrews is saying that because of what Jesus Christ did, we should have boldness to talk directly with God and feel empowered to use our faith for promoting love and good deeds. What Jesus Christ did was something special. We don’t have to approach God like a guilty child. We approach God with full assurance, with a confidence that is not rooted in self-confidence, but in certainty that the road to God is clear.

Prayer Starter: My Father in Heaven, I love that I can come directly to You. I know that it is only possible because of Your work and desire for my heart. I have given You my heart and You have created a clean heart in me. I know I can come to You anytime with anything. Today, Lord, I want to pray about how I can promote love and good deeds not only in me, but also in my church. What can I do to live out a daring faith in my family, neighborhood, and community?
