Romans 10:9-13 – “one believes with the heart resulting in righteousness”

In case you missed it yesterday, there is nothing you have to “do” to receive forgiveness from God. The only “doing” is believing. We talked last week about the impact of believing. It’s the kind of heart that God desires. God not only cleans our heart and gives us the Holy Spirit when we believe, but He saves us, gives us righteousness, and doesn’t put us to shame. One bible translation says “we will not be disappointed.” Getting a fresh or renewed start in life through God is amazing. He saves us from our old habits. He saves us from eternal punishment. He saves us from being separated from Him forever. He labels us as righteous rather than being labeled as a sinner. He deposits in our account all the funds necessary to cover the cost of our sin. He will not humiliate us as a reminder of how bad we were. He will not say “I told you so.” He pours His love on us and embraces us completely. He cleans our heart and furnishes us with love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, and self-control. When we give our hearts to God, we will not be disappointed. Call upon the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and believe in your heart. You will be saved.

Prayer Starter: God, I pray that if I do not remember a time when I asked You for forgiveness that I would do so for the first time right now. I don’t want to be fooled into thinking that I have had a relationship with You when I probably had a relationship with the church or a relationship through a believing family member or friend. God, I want a personal relationship with You. I don’t want “second-hand” blessings. I want “firsthand” blessings. I accept Your gift of salvation and I will go and testify that to someone else. Thank You Jesus, amen.
